Strukton Civiel first company in the civil engineering sector to earn the OHSAS 18001 AND 14001 certificates
On Thursday 19 November, Strukton Civiel received two certificates relating to health and safety management and environmental management for its subsidiaries Civiel Projecten and Afzinktechnieken. Wim van Vreeswijk, KIWA division director and Dick Stoelhorst, director of the Betonvereniging (Concrete Association) presented the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 certificates during Betondag (concrete industry exhibition). Strukton Civiel is the first company in the civil engineering sector to receive these certificates.
OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 are international standards for health and safety management and environmental management respectively. Both standards are aimed at systematically improving working conditions and environmental aspects in an organisation. The standards concern the management system.
The certificates for OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 are not mandatory, but in earning them, Strukton Civiel shows that it values both a safe work environment for employees as well as social involvement. The company aims to further develop the existing management system into an integrated management system focused on systematic, continuous improvement. These certificates highlight Strukton Civiel’s leading role in transforming the civil engineering sector. For Strukton Afzinktechnieken especially, the OHSAS certificate is a leading international standard, which is not true of the Dutch VCA (basic safety) certificate.
